Using water or water-based products on your sharpening stone may result in rusting, since nickel (the bonding medium for the electroplating process) is porous. Like honing oil does for other sharpening surfaces, this lubricant improves the performance of any diamond abrasive or lapping plate, making sharpening even easier and faster than ever before.
