Schmincke Acrylic Gesso is a white, semi-transparent primer for oil colors, acrylic colors, and pastels. • 🎨 Gesso, white, fine, semi-transparent, lightfast and age-resistant primer for oil and acrylic painting with a more absorbent character in study quality. In a 2.5 l container, ready to use. Dries to an elastic, absorbent, water-insoluble film.
• 🎨 Application: Shake or stir vigorously before use. Can be used pure or diluted with up to 10% water and colored with acrylic paints if required. Apply in two or three thin coats after the previous coat has dried through. Gesso can be finely sanded with sandpaper. Paint over with oil and acrylic paints after drying.
• 🎨 Good to know: If the substrate is extremely absorbent (e.g. raw linen), it should first be treated with an impregnation/pre-priming coat. The gesso layer dries to form a more absorbent surface similar to a semi-chalk base.
