The traditional Cabasa is a shaker originally made from a hollow gourd covered with a beaded net, or strung with small shells. Today it is one of the most popular hand percussion instruments ever created, and is considered an essential in the percussionist’s toolbag.
• TRADITIONAL STYLE: the gourd-shaped body and beaded net are modeled after traditional cabasa rattles; it has a strong similarity to the African shekere
