This saw is highly recommended for beginning users of Japanese Saws. This small Japanese hand saw is used for scoring and cutting panels or veneer. The "Woodpecker" hook tooth at the tip "V" end of the blade is used to scratch line to start the first cut. Metal backbone (Dozuki) helps keep the blade stiff. 7-1/2" Long cane Wrapped wood handle. Used for scoring and cutting panels or veneer. Japanese Mini Dozuki Panel Saw replacement blade (#65581, sold separately).

• With conventional saws, cutting is done by pushing. This requires a relatively high blade strength to ensure sufficient stability. For Japanese saws, the cut is carried out by pulling. The blade can therefore be very thin, as it only experiences pulling force and does not link. This makes the saw stroke finer and the cutting effort significantly less.
