Slice’s craft knife (safety cap) outperforms standard craft knives while keeping you safer, thanks to its unique finger-friendly edge. The blade is safe to the touch, yet cuts smoothly through the same materials as a traditional craft blade. The tool’s unique never-lost cap protects you when the blade isn’t in use, then twists up and locks out of your way while you cut. Crafters, artists, DIYers, and hobbyists alike appreciate the 10589’s ergonomic design. The tool’s cross-hatched copper grip gives superior control, while its lightly-weighted handle provides balance and stability. The included blade combines fine ceramics (much harder than steel) with a proprietary grind that is effective and finger friendly. The resulting blade lasts up to 11 times longer than metal craft blades, and is much safer to handle when it finally comes time to replace. Designed for precise, intricate cuts, the 10589 slices through vinyl, felt, paper and cardstock, stencils, thermal shrink wrap, leather, frisket material, plastic quilting template material, freezer paper, and foam core board. We do not recommend the Slice craft knife for any action that subjects the blade to a side load. Like all craft knives, it is unsuitable for hard materials such as wood, glass, or concrete. Microscopic chips may occur in the blade edge, but these do not affect cutting performance. The 10589 craft knife features a no-tool blade Change system for easier handling. While this knife ships with a 10518 (straight edge, rounded tip) blade for cutting, there are many optional Slice safety blades. Note that a pointed tip may be more suitable to initiate cuts in some materials.
