Product Description
With this Rit powder dye, you can do all the usual things you can do with liquid dye, but the really special thing about powder dye is that you can use it to dye with ice. How to dye ice Group your clothes or fabric on a grill or something that will let the water drip, pile ice on your fabric, then sprinkle the powder on the ice. As the ice melts, it will dissolve the dust and carry the dye through your fabric creating an organic and unpredictable pattern. (Please note: you can only ice dye natural fabrics, such as cotton, linen, wool, silk and ramie, and also rayon and nylon.) Use Rit powder dye to rejuvenate old garments: darken those faded black jeans, give that old vintage dress a whole new color, or brighten up plain sneakers. Create your own home accessories with shibori dyed pillowcases, immersion dyed and translucent curtains, or by dyeing your own towels. You can also use this versatile dye on non-fabric items. I like to use it as a stain for my wooden craft beads, dip-dye gift tags, stained crepe paper, use it with stencils, you can even dye dried flowers with it. There are many techniques you can use to dye, throw it in your washing machine, dissolve it in a sink or bucket of water, dye in a pot on your stove, or fill up some jet and dye bottles of tye. This pack contains 1 1/8 ounces of powdered dye. Enough to dye 1 pound of dry weight fabric, or 3 yards of medium weight fabric. Made in the USA Complies with ASTM D4236. Please note: If you're dyeing cotton, rayon, ramie, or linen, you'll need to add salt to your dye and water mixture. If you're dyeing nylon, silk, or wool, you'll need to add vinegar. Works on: Cotton, linen, silk, wool, ramie, rayon, viscose, nylon, modal, tulle, wood, paper, cork, hemp, dried flowers, plastic If the garment you want to dye contains more than 35 Percent synthetic material
