African Claves are slightly larger and have a lower fundamental pitch. Additionally, the resonating body is larger than the striker. Available in two different versions: Solid and hollowed out body.

β’ Solid hardwood β made with solid hardwood, these claves produce articulate, sharp accents that project strongly so their sound is easily heard on stage and in the audience β the wood is extraordinarily durable and has naturally musical acoustic properties
β’ Versatile sound β great to use for traditional African and Latin American music, rock, pop, concert band and even orchestral music (live or in the studio) β these claves also work great in larger ensemble settings like classroom band and drum circles
β’ African style β the body and striker measure 10" long, but the 1 1/4" diameter body is larger than the 7/8" diameter striker to produce a lower pitch β the body also has a smooth notch for more resonance and volume (this notch faces down into your palm)
β’ Specially weighted for outstanding attack β the large body weighs 6 ounces and the small striker weighs 3 ounces β this noticeable weight difference helps deliver a solid "knock" sound when you strike them together that's crystal-clear and full of depth
